Alberto Isaac Pérez Sanpablo is a researcher in Medical Sciences at the Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra National Rehabilitation Institute (INR-LGII), where he coordinates projects in the Motion Analysis and Rehabilitation Engineering Laboratory and chairs the Technological Innovation Commission of the College of Biomedical Engineers of Mexico. He is a member of the national system of researchers (SNII-I).
He holds a PhD in Automatic Control from CINVESTAV-IPN and a Master of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University in Germany. His expertise focuses on rehabilitation engineering, human motion analysis, the application of artificial intelligence to functional prediction, and the development of medical devices for individuals with disabilities.
He has contributed to the development of functional assessment scales, biomechanical analysis platforms, and clinically validated medical devices, including methodological instruments for assessing trunk control in individuals with spinal cord injuries. He has been a guest speaker at international conferences and has received awards such as the Mulcahey Award in 2022. His publications include areas such as functional recovery assessment and medical technology validation.
His participation in this course is directly linked to his experience in the development and validation of medical technologies, utilizing models such as Stage-Gate, Biodesign, and TRLs, with an emphasis on functional rehabilitation and clinical transfer.
Radiologist with a high specialty in Musculoskeletal Magnetic Resonance Imaging from Autonomous University of Mexico, she holds a Diploma in Diagnostic Neuroradiology from Technological University of Mexico and is certified by the Mexican Board Radiology. She has two publications in the Acta Medica of the Grupo Ángeles in 2019, one on research in Breast Cancer and another on imaging reviews for Van Neck-Odelberg disease (ischiopubic osteochondritis). She is currently a physician assigned to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Department of the National Institute of Rehabilitation “Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra”, and physician assigned to the Imaging Department, Regional General Hospital No.2, IMSS. She also teaches a residents in the specialty of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Imaging.
Arturo Martí Carvajal, venezuelan, based in Venezuela, MD, MSc, PhD, is a physician specializing in internal medicine and haematology. He trained at the University of Carabobo (Venezuela), where he also served as a tenured professor in Pharmacology, Internal Medicine, and Public Health. He is part of the university’s Chair of Evidence-Based Medicine. He currently works as an protocol editor with the Cochrane Heart, Stroke, and Circulation group, and advises international projects on systematic reviews.
He has published over 40 systematic reviews, including 38 with the Cochrane Collaboration. He led the review that contributed to the withdrawal of activated protein C in sepsis. In 2024, Stanford University listed him among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists. He is widely recognised as a leading figure in the Americas in the synthesis of evidence on sickle cell disease within the Cochrane network.
His main research focus is sickle cell disease. He investigates chronic pain, silent inflammation, and the absence of evidence in essential treatments. He combines clinical expertise with critical thinking and ethical commitment. He advocates for rigorous, question-driven medicine.
Dr. David Antonio Arguelles Pérez is a medical doctor specialized in Nuclear Medicine, graduated from the Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP). He completed his specialty training at the National Cancer Institute, endorsed by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and holds advanced studies in Nuclear Oncology. Since 2016, he has served as Head of the Nuclear Medicine Department at the National Rehabilitation Institute LGII.
He also earned a specialty in Health Organization Management from Universidad La Salle, receiving honors, and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in the same field.
His professional focus includes clinical research on bone infections and bone tumors, with a strong emphasis on nuclear techniques for diagnosing and managing inflammatory diseases and chronic pain. He has participated in national and international conferences and contributes to research projects in these areas.
Dr. Arguelles brings extensive experience to the study of pain and inflammation, integrating nuclear medicine into rehabilitation strategies. His work supports the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic protocols, making him a valuable contributor to academic and clinical discussions in this field.
He got into the institute in the year 2000. Have done several research investigations in Regional Anesthesia, published in both national and international magazines. Adjunct professor of the highly specialized course in Regional Anesthesia (2004). Founder and Associate professor of Brachial Plexus and Vascular Access through Ultrasound (10 years). I have also explored various lines of research within the bounds of Regional Anesthesia on patients with disabilities. Anesthesia Coordinator in the Orthopedics area (6 years). He completed his medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad La Salle. He received his training as a specialist in rheumatology from the Ignacio Chávez National Institute of Cardiology. In 2011, he completed a master’s degree in health sciences, endorsed by the National Polytechnic Institute, and received an Honorable Mention. Later, in 2015, he completed a PhD in Biological and Health Sciences at the Metropolitan Autonomous University, earning a medal for University Merit. He is a member of multiple medical societies, having served as president of the Mexican Council of Rheumatology from 1998 to 1999 and of the Mexican College of Rheumatology from 2004 to 2005. In his teaching activities, he is currently a professor of the undergraduate course in rheumatology at the Universidad la Salle, as well as a Titular professor of the PAEM in Ultrasound in Rheumatology, which has been recognized by the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), certified by the Mexican Council of Rheumatology, and the Mexican Council of Internal Medicine. He has authored over 100 publications and has been a speaker at numerous national and international scientific conferences and congresses. His main research interests are ultrasound in rheumatology. Currently serving as director of the National Institute of Rehabilitation "Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra", where he has been characterized by impeccable work since 2021, the year of his appointment.
In 2018, he graduated as a Surgeon from the University of Guanajuato; in 2019, he entered the specialty of Anesthesiology at the General Hospital of Mexico where he obtained the title with the endorsement of the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
In 2022, he completed the highly specialized course in Cardiovascular Anesthesiology at the Ignacio Chávez National Institute of Cardiology; later he continued his training in the "Diploma in Brachial Plexus Anesthesia and Vascular Access by Ultrasound" at the Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra National Rehabilitation Institute.
He has published articles associated with topics such as pharmacology in multimodal analgesia and has collaborated in book chapters related to anesthesia in the cardiac patient for non-cardiac surgery; He has also participated as a speaker in national and international conferences on topics such as cardiotoxicity due to local anesthetics and in practical workshops on the placement of ultrasound-guided vascular access, regional anesthesia, total intravenous anesthesia and scanning of peripheral regional blocks.
He is currently a physician assigned to the Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra National Rehabilitation Institute in the Medical-Surgical Division, where he participates as a collaborating professor and thesis advisor in the “Diploma in Brachial Plexus Anesthesia and Vascular Access by Ultrasound”; he is also collaborating as a professor in the Anesthesiology postgraduate program at the Angeles Acoxpa Hospital.

Dr. Iván Pérez Neri holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Biological Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He currently serves as Coordinator of the Evidence Synthesis Unit at the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitación Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra and is a Level II National Researcher (SNII).
His expertise lies in neurochemistry, evidence-based medicine, and evidence synthesis. He has an extensive career, evidenced by over 66 publications in indexed scientific journals, one book, and six book chapters. Among his most relevant contributions are his studies on neuroprotective mechanisms and his role as an editor for high-impact scientific journals such as Annals of Medicine and Frontiers in Neurology.
He is a member, author and reviewer of the Cochrane Collaboration. He has coordinated numerous evidence syntheses, and has published methodological protocols and papers on evidence synthesis, including a study on adherence to PRISMA reporting guidelines in rheumatology systematic reviews. He has accomplished two comprehensive Cochrane courses on systematic review methodology. He also contributed to the development of the InSynQ guide for planning research questions in systematic reviews.

Dr. Janette Jacqueline Franco Contreras is a board-certified radiologist who earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí. She is certified by the Mexican Council of Radiology and Imaging and currently serves as an attending physician in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Department at the National Institute of Rehabilitation "Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra."
Dr. Franco Contreras has actively participated in international academic meetings, contributing as both author and co-author of educational exhibits presented at the American Roentgen Ray Society. She is the lead author of the study “Ankle and Midfoot: Ultrasound–Magnetic Resonance Correlation in the Evaluation of Ligaments and Tendons”, and co-author of “Shoulder Ultrasound: A Practical Guide for Radiology Residents”, presented at the Radiological Society of North America.

Javier Pérez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy and a Master’s degree in Health Care Organization Management. He currently works as a physical therapist at Hospital Ángeles Pedregal in Mexico City, where he serves as Coordinator of the Sports Area and Continuing Education in the Physical Therapy Department, collaborating closely with orthopedic physicians in the comprehensive care of patients.

Dr. Jesús Velasco López is a highly accomplished physician with a distinguished career in Anesthesiology. Dr. Leticia Ascencio Huertas is a psychologist specializing in Health Psychology, with a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology with an emphasis on health and a PhD in Social and Administrative Sciences. She has clinical training in psycho-oncology and palliative psychology. She currently works as a specialist psychologist in the Department of Mental Health and Clinical Practice in Palliative Care and serves on the Research Ethics Committee at the National Cancer Institute (INCAN) in Mexico. She is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) of the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation in Mexico. Finn-Tore Camacho Bjørnsand, MNMF, is a Physiotherapist, Level 2 Hintsa Performance Coach, and General Manager of Muskelklinikken in Norway. He is the founder of several health and performance initiatives, including Sportsklinikken, Oslo Performance Center, Posthallen Trening, and the Norwegian Sports and Health Institute, as well as digital platforms such as Coach Camacho App and Finn-Tore’s Podcast.
He holds a Bachelor’s in Physiotherapy from Saxion University (Netherlands) and a Master’s in Athletic Therapy from the National University of Medical Sciences (Spain), complemented by training in Manual Therapy, Osteopathy, Sports Psychology, and Exercise Nutrition.

Dr. Martinez-Lavin obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He did his Internal Medicine training at St. Louis University in Missouri USA. He was designated Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at the St. Louis City Hospital. His formal Rheumatology training took place at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation in La Jolla California. He is certified as Internist and as Rheumatologist by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also certified by the Mexican Council of Internal Medicine and the Mexican Council of Rheumatology.
After finishing his post-graduate training in the USA, Dr. Martinez-Lavin returned to his native Country Mexico to work at the National Cardiology Institute. He developed a formal Clinical Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program, sponsored by the National Autonomous University. This Rheumatology fellowship program has graduated 154 Clinical Fellows from Mexico, South American and Spain.

He pursued his main academic training in the Bachelor of Medicine at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), where he built a distinguished trajectory marked by academic excellence and active participation in both basic and clinical research projects. His primary areas of work focus on neurosciences and research methodology, with a particular interest in neuronal regeneration mechanisms and the application of scoping reviews as a tool for scientific knowledge synthesis. Dr. Ricardo Pérez Sosa is a Pediatric Anesthesiologist and Pediatric Pain Specialist at Hospital Juárez de México in the Gustavo A. Madero district of Mexico City, where he combines clinical practice with the training of anesthesiology residents. He graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Medicina y Homeopatía of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (2017) and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMex, 2018–2021) at Hospital General “Las Américas” in Ecatepec de Morelos, State of Mexico. He continued his subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the National Institute of Pediatrics (UNAM) in Mexico City from 2021 to 2024.
He holds a Diploma in Regional Anesthesia from the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitación Luis Guillermo Ibarra Ibarra (UNAM, Mexico City, 2024), as well as a Diploma in Health Administration from Universidad Anáhuac Online (2023).
